ACCOUNTING RECORDS ASSESSMENT
We look before we quote.
How we understand your business before recommending any ongoing bookkeeping: a paid, hands-on review of your records, systems, and filings.
Why this comes first
Most bookkeeping quotes start with a guess. Someone asks what you need, you describe it as best you can, and a price comes back before anyone has actually looked at your records. If the guess is wrong, you find out later, usually when the work costs more than expected or misses something that mattered.
We do it the other way around. Before we recommend ongoing bookkeeping, quote a price, or take anything on, we start with an assessment: a proper look at where your records actually stand. It's how we make sure the work we recommend fits your business, not a package we assumed you'd need.
What we review
We look at the things that determine what your books actually require:
Your current bookkeeping system and software, and how transactions are being handled today
The state of your records and how current they are
Your filing and remittance status across HST, payroll, and corporate tax
The gaps or catch-up work sitting underneath the day-to-day
The complex entries that are easy to miss and expensive to get wrong
What you receive
Two things. A written assessment that lays out what we found and what we recommend, and a walkthrough where we go through it together. The document is yours to keep. The conversation is where you get to ask questions, understand the reasoning, and decide what makes sense for your business.
You come away knowing where your records stand, what needs attention, and what the right ongoing support would actually look like, with a clear recommendation and pricing rather than a guess.
What it costs, and how long it takes
The assessment is $450. You'll have your completed assessment within five business days of us receiving access to your records.
That fee stands on its own. It's not a deposit and it's not billed against later work, because the assessment has real value whether or not you go on to work with us: you leave with a clear picture of your records and a plan, either way.

What happens next
If ongoing bookkeeping makes sense, we'll recommend the right level of support and what it costs. If your records need catch-up or cleanup work first, that's scoped and quoted separately, so you can see exactly what you're deciding on. There's no obligation to continue. The assessment is complete in itself.
What's not included
The assessment is a review and a plan. It's not the bookkeeping itself, and it isn't the cleanup. If your records need reconstruction or catch-up work, we'll identify it and quote it separately rather than fold an unknown into a flat fee. That keeps the assessment honest: one clear price to understand your situation, and a separate, informed quote for whatever the work turns out to need.
